Dealing with Europe

The UK’s decision to leave the European Union has sparked a wide-ranging debate on how to organize the UK’s relationship with the EU after the UK’s formal exit from the EU. Accordingly, there is much onus on scrutinizing existing arrangements, notably the Swiss, Norwegian (EEA-based) and Canadian (CETA-based) modes of affiliation.

This Routledge mini-series Dealing with Europe offers books which therefore respectively examine the potential modes of affiliation adopted by key countries with the EU, systematically assessing the potential suitability of each arrangement as a viable EU affiliation post-Brexit model for the UK against the revealing backdrop of the domestic political context of each country.

It clarifies which actors and factors are supportive of such arrangements in each country; which actors and factors are the main challenges; what form of balance there is and how precarious that is. Finally, each country case study considers what would happen should the UK try to adopt such a model.
